To further its commitment to web accessibility, Badeyes Design and Consulting has partnered with eSSENTIAL Accessibility™ in order to add another layer of accessibility to sites it designs.
With the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) now in force it makes even more sense to make websites as accessible as possible and eSSENTIAL Accessibility™ helps us do just that.
eSSENTIAL Accessibility™ is the provider of a turn-key application that makes online environments fully accessible to individuals with physical disabilities.
It can be found on March of Dimes Canada’s website among others and is now being rolled out across all industrial sectors.
Over 20 million Americans alone require assistive technology to surf the web because they have difficulty typing, moving a mouse, or reading a screen. eSSENTIAL
Accessibility™ gives them tools needed to overcome the barriers to accessing a website from a standard PC.
A Founders Club of major organizations like Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Tim Hortons and others have come together to initiate this application’s global
rollout of this service. Effectively, it ensures that anyone with a physical disability can access any website that carries this icon:
There is no implementation work other than to display this “Web Accessibility icon” pursuant to a subscription agreement. It communicates that the site
provides the most advanced assistive technology and serves as a link through which disabled users can access the tools they require free of charge. eSSENTIAL
Accessibility™ takes care of the rest.
This “Online Social ResponsAbility” initiative is being launched in association with advocacy organizations for seniors and the disabled. The concept has
been exceptionally well-received.
Where appropriate, Badeyes Design and Consulting websites will feature the eSSENTIAL Accessibility™ icon prominently at the top of each page. Badeyes
feels it is important that this icon is highly visible in the header of web pages and not concealed in the footer to ensure that it can be easily identified
by any user regardless of disability.
